Samah and Arthur got married in June 2015 at one of the most gorgeous Italian venues I’ve ever seen; Castello di Vicarello. Yes… that literally means castle. They got married in a castle! If you’re looking for a venue in Italy then this may just blow your mind. I know my friend Lauren is so this is kind of dedicated to her.
The wedding was submitted by the lovely Louma (Design by Louma) she created all of the stationery for the wedding and has been raving about this beautiful couple for weeks. I’m so happy I can feature this today.
The Planning process: we visited the castle the summer of 2014 and we fill in love with it, it has its own charm, the castle, the location, and ahhhh the view. Pictures cannot describe the feeling of standing their facing miles and miles of beautiful Tuscany. It was a dream!! we were very lucky to be able to have our wedding there! The planning started about 8 months before the wedding, it was not easy as we are not in Italy, and that’s when you appreciate technology, Skype saved our lives! And of course to make sure everything was going on the right direction we had to visit 2 months before the wedding for meetings, tasting … etc
The Dress: Between Paris and Dubai, I have tried around 20-30 dresses not because I am picky but because unlike many girls I have never dreamt of my wedding dress and I was also trying to please people around me which made it difficult to decide until finally I found my dress in the last shop I have visited and I felt good in it because it had a touch that kind of described me, it was very special!
Groom’s attire: Lagonda, Paris, France
Music: for the music, we were very fussy as it is the main element of the wedding right along with flowers. After researches we have chosen two bands from http://www.almaproject.it a classical trio of violin for the ceremony and a jazz band for the cocktail. And god it couldn’t be better, we were amazed of how talented and fixable they were, very professional and lovely to work with.
Readings: We had both family and close friends involved, swapping between Arabic and French, the main readings in French were by Jean- Louis Gueret ( my father in law) and Augustine Alleaume the best friend of my husband . Arabic readings : Abdullah and Nadia (my brother and sister)
And finally three prayers from every religion Islam, Christianity and Judaism, as we got married in a sensitive and devastating period worldwide, we wanted to remind everyone of how differences can bring people together if it was out of love and kindness.
The Flowers: We worked with Sonja from Funky Bird. Great Spirit that loves what she does! Very patient and fixable, we had a vision and she brought it to life with her own unique touch.
Photographer: Emma is friendly, fun and easy to work with, and the results were amazing, we were truly lucky to work with her http://www.emmainnocenti.com
Videographer: amazing team!! These boys were all around the place capturing special moments in a very unique way, we loved how passionate they are about what they are doing! http://www.luigidegregorio.com
The Details + Décor: I have tried to gather an over all idea of the style we would like as a PDF of images as again we are not in Italy and it is hard to explain, visual examples are always the best! then it was taken care of by Aurora the owner of the castle and her amazing assistant Michela. The tent and cocktail area, welcome drinks and guest guiding.. etc along with our floweriest Sonja, who took care or decorating the ceremony area, the cocktail, the main wedding tent, dinner tables, all the bouquets, flower petals as well as adding the flowers to our wedding cake.
The Invitation: plus the Menus, nametags, Seating chart, table names. Louma was of course one of the first person we met to start with the invitations, which was not easy as it is a combination of two cutlers and traditions. Louma was very understanding and helpful giving us none ending advices even about the wedding in general. It was amazing working with her until the end. Her creativity changed our invitation idea from being plain, boring and classical to new and unique by adding her touch with respect of the classical element that we had to keep in mind , we had amazing feedback from friends and family!
Memorable moments: each speech was memorable for us. Whether it is my brother dinner speech which brought us and him to tears of how he is happy that we made despite all the difficulties, or my father in law speaking to my mother in Arabic telling her not to be worried as I am I became his second daughter.
I can not pick a moment really, as I said we got married in a time that differences were not being understood and people started defining each other based on race , religion and believes. Being able to touch our family and friends hearts and to see how different people who have never met before can on that day celebrate one love in happiness forgetting where each comes from was a scene we would never forget, and we are thankful that we were a small reason to give hope again, at least to those who were around us.
Advice for other couples: no matter how early you plan ahead, and how careful you are with the smallest detail, something will always happen on that day, you have to prepare yourself to be stress free, laugh about it and shake it off. Know that at the end of the day all you need is Music, true friends and family who came to share this day with you and the love of your life. That is enough to have the best wedding anybody can dream of!
The Cake: An America cake maker who lives in Florence, Italy. She takes wedding cakes from the basic level to replacing the dessert in the menu. You do not want to miss her dark chocolate with salted caramel flavor or the fresh peach and cream that says( I am in Italy)in one bite. http://tuscanweddingcakes.com
