Are you looking for an outdoor quirky wedding theme that won’t break the budget? A picnic wedding theme is just one way to create something beautiful, simple and memorable without breaking the bank.
Maybe today’s wedding inspiration will inspire you…
The first thing to do is find yourself a venue with green grass and a good view. The venue has been be almost like a blank canvas so that you can add your own touches, but yet keep it quite simple. I’d recommend the following venues in Dubai…
You’ll also need picnic tables. As far as I’m aware I don’t know of any hotel that has classic wooden picnic tables. But I do know that you can rent them from Canvas and Wood in Dubai.
They sit 8 people comfortably and you can add cushions or throws for extra comfort. The photo below is from my wedding and I used the picnic tables from Canvas and Wood.
Keep the decor simple and fresh. You really don’t want anything too ‘put together’. I’d suggest jars or bottles with fresh flowers, it’s affordable and will look pretty and elegant.
Use fabric table runners or invest in custom made napkins. Choose a fun colour or print and make it your own. You can find really good fabric in Satwa and any of the nearby tailors can make napkins in only a few days.
Add picnic blankets for a more relaxed feel, and you can add cushions for comfort and style. I love the picture below with the lanterns and Arabic style carpets.
Going from day to night is going to be really easy.. all you need to do is add candles or lanterns and your set. I’d suggest using fun wood cutlery for day time nibbles.. wrap them up with a napkin and make individual packs. (See picture below) Replace with silver culture later on and use linen napkins… It will instantly make it more elegant for an evening meal.
Where to get what…
Picnic Tables – Canvas and Wood
Fabric – Try any of the fabric shops in Satwa. They even sell quilt, which would make a perfect picnic blankets.
Traditional wood baskets – Try Dragon Mart or any of the home stores around Dubai. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen them for sale in Home Centre too. If you’re looking for a real picnic basket set, I’d try Lakeland at MOE.
Wood cutlery – You can get this from any large supermarket. I got some from Geant a while ago.
