Once the wedding is over and your guests have gone home, you’ve enjoyed your honeymoon, and once again flicked through all the wonderful wedding cards you received, it’s time to say THANK YOU. The traditional way of saying thank you is by sending a card to each person to say thanks for attending the wedding and for their gift. I wanted something a little different.
Since over half of my wedding guests live across the globe I decided to leave each couple or single guest a personal thank you note at the wedding. I knew I wouldn’t be able to send everyone a handmade card after the big day, so thought it would be nice to give them something to read while eating dinner.
It’s a fab idea if you have lots of international guests, and not too many in total. For larger weddings I would suggest writing a card addressed to one table or friendship/family group. You could suggest one person to read it out to the table, but just make sure everyone gets a little mention. Keep it personal, but not too long. Short and sweet and to the point is what I would suggest.
Here’s how I made my thank you cards…
I used the same card and envelopes that I used to make my wedding invitations.
I made a heart stencil from brown card to create a perfect heart shape. I then used white spray paint to create the white heart. I also had some left over material that I used to make my bridesmaid dress, so I used this and cut little hearts from it. (Always feels good to recycle!)
I then placed the fabric heart onto of the white heart, this gave the fabric heart a nice white boarder. Then I used string and left over tags and tied it around the card. I glued down the tag and stamped out ‘THANK YOU’ with letter stamps. It was pretty easy, but again very time consuming. Luckily I enjoy all this DIY stuff 😉
Hope you liked these, and maybe I’ve inspired you to make your own thank you cards!?
Got to go… off to BRIDE in Abu Dhabi soon.
Back later today…
