Maria and Robert got married on the 12th March 2015. The happy couple held their wedding ceremony at Maria’s parents home in Dubai, which was followed with a beautiful dinner reception at Emirates Golf Club’s very fine “Le Classique” restaurant. One of the many perks of having a home made ceremony is being able to share it with your beloved pets. The dressed up pooches won my heart over, just as much as the bride in her Monique Lhuiller wedding dress.
The Dress + Accessories…
The dress is Monique Lhuiller and so is the matching Veil. Shoes were YSL. My hair accessory was from Sophie’s Closet, I bought it online.
Finding the dress…
I had a look at a few wedding dress shops in Dubai but couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for so I went to Browns Bridal in London and the dress I chose was the first dress I tried on.
Groom’s threads…
For the ceremony he wore a tailor made tuxedo by Made to Measure. The bow tie was from Gucci and shoes were Louis Vuitton. Having grown up in Scotland he wanted to change into a traditional Scottish kilt for the reception. We bought the tailor made kilt from Kaptial Kilts in Linlithgow, Scotland.
The Planning process…
I started planning our wedding 15 months in advance. I knew I wanted the colours to be white, silver and Black so the planning went from there. Pinterest and Etsy were life savers when it came to ideas for the wedding and getting a clear vision of what I wanted. I didn’t have a wedding planner but my Mum was a great help in the planning process and helped keep me on track and remind me of any details I might have over looked.
The Music…
Ceremony music was provided by “The Fridge” They provided us with a cellist and baby grand piano. I walked down the aisle to “A thousand Years” the song by Christina Perri. At the reception we had jazz music by “ Desert Jazz” and for the party later on we flew in a Scottish Ceilidh band called ‘Bahooki” from Glasgow.
The wedding party…
The Bridesmaids wore Black “two birds one bridesmaid” dresses. Hair and make up for all bridesmaids and bride and mother of the bride was done by Angelique Turner.
The Groomsmen all wore Black kilts from Kapital Kilts.
The Flowers…
All the flowers were provided by Maison De Fleur. The head florist Fabrice was amazing and so easy to work with, he knew exactly my vision of having white and black flowers. We chose hydrangeas and garden roses for our centre pieces and Ranunculus for all the bouquets and boutonnieres. For the ceremony we used Gypsophila and white orchids. Black and white roses were used to decorate the reception area.
The Details & Décor…
Harlequinn events did an amazing job supplying all the tents for my parents garden and also the golf course terrace. They did the draping in the ceiling and supplied all the Chiavari chairs for the ceremony space and also the reception venue along with the crystal chandeliers for the tents and the fairy lights for our dance floor. I also used Etsy for many small details such as the programmes which doubled up as fans when it got hot, name cards and personalized napkins and candy bags for the reception area.
We also had a photobooth and flip book provided by Podyoulike. Our guests loved the props and photos and we left our guest book next to the photobooth so guests could put their photos and write a message for us.
The Honeymoon…
All our guests flew in from Norway and UK so we didn’t go on our honeymoon straight away. We recently flew to New York first for a friends wedding in New Jersey, then we headed to Nashville, Memphis, New Orleans and last stop is Las Vegas. It was an amazing trip!
Memorable moments…
Walking down the aisle was a lot more special than I imagined, I was nervous about everyone looking at me but you really do not think about anyone else but your groom at that moment in time.
The Cake…
Our main wedding cake was 5 tiers made by Sweetlane cakes. It was pistachio, carrot, chocolate and red velvet flavoured. They also made a grooms cake which was made to look like his Kilt which was a Victoria sponge cake. We also had a candy bar and they made all our cupcakes and cake pops.
Advice for other couples…
I was told this before our wedding and only realized how true it was after our wedding, but enjoy every moment as the day does go by far too quickly.
