A vintage tea party inspired wedding ♥

Fadi and Patricia got married on the 8th March 2013 at The Address Montgomerie. Like me, Patricia choose a wonderful venue to host an even more wonderful wedding.   This real wedding feature is a little different to the usual, because it’s all about the details! I am focusing on details, not the bride. Some brides prefer not to share there personal photos, which is perfectly OK, and luckily for me.. she has so many lovely details to share. The flowers are from Vintage Bloom, and lots of the extra touches were added by the bride herself.

The vendors she used were all recommended on My Lovely Wedding, which makes me happy, very happy. It’s like a personal sense of achievement, that I’ve helped a bride plan her wedding day. Her florist was of course, Vintage Bloom, and her photographer was Louise at The Studio in Dubai.

The Proposal…
A lovely afternoon in Parc Guell in Barcelona, in a quiet spot (very difficult to find in a park full of tourist). Fadi has the ring in his backpack for few days trying to find the perfect spot to pop the question. My first reaction was Really? Are you sure??? and of course I said YES. In Spain the tradition is to ask the father for the hand of the daughter as a sign of respect so Fadi prepared a beautiful speech in Spanish to ask my dad for my hand and memorized it (he does not speak Spanish), so it was very funny when my dad kept asking him questions..

The Vision for the day…
Vintage Tea Party,  it represent part of what I do, I love to teach Tea & Etiquette! (more on this coming soon)

The Planning process…
4 months of hard planning from both of us. I could not have done it alone but it does not matter how much you plan, as the day of the wedding you will always have surprises.

Budget…
Everyone was advising us to have a fixed budget and allocate percentages among all the things you need like flowers, food, venue, photographer etc.. We did not have one as such but we did a lot of research before picking up the vendors. That really helped to control the expenses.

Finding My Wedding Dress…
It was difficult to find what I wanted in Dubai so I saw this beautiful dress in a shop in London. Luckily my sister lives there so she bought it for me. I was nervous about the transportation of the dress to Dubai by post so I arranged with one of my friends who works on a private jet to meet my sister and bringing it to Dubai, the jet changed its route so my dress went to Hong Kong and arrived a week later in Dubai.

My Lovely Accessories…
I loved my veil. It was a “Spanish Mantilla” very traditional and made to order in Spain, I wore it with a special broche that my mum gave me as a present. I had a bit of Spain with me.

Groom’s Threads…
Fadi designed his own and had it tailored made to measure.

My Lovely bridesmaids…
I choose not to have bridesmaids as they are not a tradition neither in Spain, nor in Lebanon. But my gorgeous sister was amazing as a Maid of Honor.

The Flowers…
I got beautiful flowers from Vintage Bloom in Dubai, who I discovered on My Lovely Wedding.

The Cake…
I absolutely adore the “Honey Cake” from Katerina in Mirdiff, so I knew I wanted it for my wedding. I gave them the design and they made it for me.

My Details + Décor…
I loved the vintage cards that I used for the guest to sign instead of the traditional signing book, Also I ordered some shoe stoppers for the ladies to avoid being stuck in the grass. ( it was a real help..) but for me the most special one is the candle that we lit in memory of the people who were no longer with us.

Our Honeymoon…
Bali  is a fantastic destination with the right mix of culture, spirituality, beach and mountains. We did not want to be in the crowded South so we head to lesser known areas of Bali. I loved our stay in Hotel Tugu (Canggu Beach) and Kupu Kupu Barong (Ubud)

Favorite moments…
A surprise video that my friends and family from Spain organized to wish us happiness in our day. They could not come to Dubai but they made sure they were present. Also the first time Fadi saw me in my wedding dress.. His eyes told me everything.
Advice for other couples…

  • Ask several vendors about the same items, show them pictures for inspiration. Vendors can even double their quotations for the same item.
  • Go through all your details and requirements with the vendors at least 2 days before the wedding to make sure they do not forget anything.
  • Have one Hair and make up stylist for you and another for the rest of your family.
  •  Involve the groom in the planning process if he wants.. remember is not ONLY your day. The wedding should be a representation of both
  • If you are mixing traditions, ask both families what they want to see, make compromises and create your own.
  • If you don’t have a wedding planner, assign someone the duties to follow up on during the wedding and delegate.

Credit for friends, family & suppliers…
I would like to thank our families for the support through the months leading to the wedding, to our friends that traveled to Dubai to share this day with us and to the ones here. Special thanks to my husband, for all his hard work to make everything run smooth and perfect and to Louise from The Studio for her flexibility and understanding when thing went out of plan.
