A wedding industry double baby shower at Aubaine, City Walk

A few months back Monica asked me to help throw a baby shower for our dear friends and wedding industry side-kicks; Ana and Paula. Of course, I said yes and with the help of some talented humans, we created a very pretty set up that hosted 23 friends on a warm Monday morning.

Words by Monica…
Ana from Nice Ribbon Atelier and Paula from Paula Scalco Photography, are both expecting babies and making me a proud auntie.
So what do you do when two of your best friends are having a baby? You organise a baby shower for them and of course, being a makeup artist, do their makeup for the special event. The three of us were looking for a venue and Ana found the perfect one through Instagram, Aubaine at City Walk, a French restaurant that is pure magic. Not only is the place stunning, but their customer service is impeccable.

There are occasions when we overlook the idea of having our makeup done by professionals because we think it’s only a breakfast, there will be daylight and it probably won’t make a difference.
Well, I am here to tell you, it will make a huge difference in your pictures, especially if you are having a professional photographer covering the event like we did. Stick to a natural look that compliments your outfit.

As I always suggest, be yourself. In Ana’s and Paula’s case I highlighted their beauty going for looks that matched their personality and style.
Ana loves modern and unconventional looks, outfits that stand out. For the makeup, we went for a tanned monochromatic look, naturally filled brows, black eyeliner on the inner rim to accentuate the eyes. Added bronzer on the high points of the face and finished with a peachy gloss and long full lashes.

Paula loves everything vintage, so I knew cat eyeliner, rosy cheeks, pink lipstick and doll-like lashes was the perfect look for her.
They both did their own hair, which perfectly came together with the help of Irina from Blossom Tree Dubai, who made a gorgeous crown for each of them.

I was very fortunate to be surrounded by amazing vendors who made this baby shower not only possible but spectacular and a total success.
Joelle, from My Lovely Wedding, did all the styling, which she will further explain in detail. As always nailed it 100%. Pure class, elegance and tailor made to perfection.

Irina from Blossom Tree Dubai handpicked each flower and made amazing arrangements for the tables, the pictures speak for themselves.
For favours, we created a beautiful mini basket with a soap and mini loofah from the body shop and exclusive personalised key rings for each guest made by talented Melissa from The Party.

Finally, Joem Aldea was our photographer on this beautiful day and we couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. These pictures are the perfect memory to our very special double baby shower.

OK so back to me. LOL Monica makes me smile ‘ Nailed it’… I have, to be honest, the set up was so easy because we had beautiful show plates and vintage cutlery from Party Social, and Irina did a fantastic job creating small floral arrangements which we placed along the wood top tables. The restaurant itself is gorgeous so we didn’t have to do anything extra. If you’re looking for a baby shower venue then you must make a visit to Aubaine in City Walk.
I’m signing off by wishing my lovely friends Ana and Paula a very healthy and happy pregnancy. I can’t wait to meet your little ones soon.
Lots of love,
Joelle x
