Another update – 18 weeks pregnant & busy.

Hello gorgeous people,
I hope you’ve all had a fabulous week! I just wanted to say a little thank you to everyone who sent me such lovely comments after I posted my pregnancy story last Thursday. I wasn’t expecting so many nice words and I’m truly grateful.
So a little update…
I had my 16 week scan a week last Thursday and according to my lovely Dr Elsa, everything is perfect. My baby has all her fingers, toes and all the measurements seem to be spot on. It’s a huge relief to hear those words because you really have no idea whats happening. My gut feeling tells me she’s ok, and I’m doing the right thing but taking my pregnancy vitamins daily and trying to get at least 8 hours sleep a night. I’m suffering with Insomnia at the moment, which sucks so bad. I goodled it and it’s a pretty common pregnancy symptom. I think it’s a combination of not being bale to get comfortable, thinking about work and my ever lasting to-do list and OMG I’m going to squish the baby if I roll onto my front while I’m sleeping. It hasn’t happened yet  but I’m very aware of it. Nathan bought me one of those oversized pregnancy pillows that you snuggle and after two nights, I ditched it for a regular pillow. It was probably a waste of money but it was a very thoughtful gift and it may come in handy later when I became the size of a small orca whale. Oh and yes, this is Jennifer Lopez.. not me. Have you seen the movie ‘The Backup Plan‘? It’s a nice reference I think 😉

When you’re trying to get pregnant you spend a lot of time googling, hunting out blogs and trying to see what worked for others. Forums were so interesting, I love reading other peoples stories, symptoms and how they finally got pregnant. It makes you realise that you’re not so different from so many other people.
So when Helen Farmer, Editor of Good Magazine launched her new blog.. The Mothership, I literally squealed with excitement. I feel like she’s launched it just at the right time, obviously not just for me but selfishly I’m very happy that her timing has worked out with my pregnancy. Thanks Helen, I owe you one! If you’re expecting a baby, or maybe you have a friend who is a new mummy then I highly recommend it. It will make you laugh, smile and give you reassurance that even though you’re only 18 weeks pregnant it’s totally ok that you haven’t started birthing classes, or had a site visit of your hospital. It’s overwhelming, so until I really need to i think I’m going to go with the flow.

My other news is that I’ve been super busy with work. Not only am I working on 7 weddings, I’m also working on a few other styling projects such as Christmas, and a very exciting project for a client at Ripe Market. It’s keeping me really busy but I really love my job so can’t complain too much. My Mum arrived on Thursday for 2 weeks so she’s taking care of me, she won’t let me carry a bag or pick up anything slightly heavy. Coming back from Spinneys over the weekend I was only allowed to carry the toilet roll. Ya know, I could totally get used to this. 😉
Over the weekend I also dragged my Mum and Nathan around some of the baby stores. Entering Just Kidding on Sheikh Zayed Road is like a baby wonderland. Strollers, car seats, cots, accessories. I had the sudden urge to call my friend Kara and ask for help, but I didn’t. (Kara is a Mummy with her 2nd due in December, so to me, she’s a total expert.) We focused on the strollers and spent a good 15 minutes test driving them around the store. It was very amusing seeing my husband with a stroller, it made it all feel very real. It reminded me of that scene in ‘What to Expect When Expecting‘… he he he can you imagine? 🙂

So it’s 9am and I am dying for a cup of tea. Today I’m going to get up to date with my admin, send out a bunch of emails and prepare mood boards for future clients. I’m then going to take my Mum to the Garden centre for lunch before my 2pm meeting. I may even drag her to Ikea to purchase candles if she’s lucky. No seriously, she actually loves Ikea as its a novelty for her. The closest Ikea back home in Somerset of well over an hour away so she doesn’t get to go much. 🙂
OK folks… have a super week ahead. Oh and don’t forget to tune in tomorrow for some makeup tips by my friends Dee & Dal. Pretty pictures included!
