B + Thom's Crafty DIY wedding in Abu Dhabi

Just under a year ago my darling friend B and her side kick Thom got married at one of the most lovely venues in Abu Dhabi; Saadiat Beach Golf Club. If you’re on the venue hunt this should be added to your ‘visit list’.  Having known B for a few years now I knew her laid back style would be the vibe for the big day. Being a dress maker by trade, she designed and stitched her wedding dress, bridesmaids dresses and groomsmen suits for the big day. She even made the bridal party corsages too. (I know right, super talented) It was one of the most personal, yet eccentric weddings I’ve styled so far and one of the most fun to work on too. B trusted me to put all her DIY elements together and I even hand tied her green bridal bouquet, and arranged flowers on the table. It was important that it was I that hadn’t crafted these floral touches and not a florist.

One of my favourite bits was the large white balloons that sat swaying in the background of the ceremony. Each one was tied with a heart and a name of a family member that was no longer there. It was beautiful, and so thoughtful.

B’s Dad handmade centrepieces representing football teams, cities they love as well as the Blackpool tower and brought them over in his suitcase a few days before the wedding. We had no idea how it would turn out until on the day but it somehow all came together perfectly. Each table had their own cocktail kick which was also part of the centrepiece, and the wedding favours were customised bottles of Lea Perrins flown in from the UK.
