Elaine and Blaise got married on the 19th November 2015, at Desert Palm PER AQUUM, Dubai. They had an intimate wedding with only 75 guests attending during the ceremony and dinner reception. Elaine was my bride, and was one of the easiest people to work with…. like ever! They had so much trust for me that she left me to organise most of the decor and make decisions without her approval. It gave me the freedom to be creative and go above and beyond her expectations. It was also my 30th birthday, and what better way to celebrate than doing what I love to do… styling a wedding of course!
Elaine tells us about the planning process… We booked the most important things like venue, celebrant, DJ and photographer and I chose my dress first and then we didn’t really do a whole lot after that. I looked at a couple of venues online ad really liked Desert Palm. We went to see it and decided straight away we wanted to get married there. We didn’t look anywhere else so that was quite easy. I had been looking online at themes and colours and was really overwhelmed with all there was. Everything was lovely and I found it really hard to decide hence the reason why I got in touch with Joelle. I knew I wanted the end result but didn’t really have the time, or know where to start with flowers, props etc.
Budget – did you follow a budget or go with the flow? We didn’t have budget as such but we both knew we didn’t want to go overboard. I can really see how people can get carried away and totally blow their budget. We were happy to pay for what we really wanted and cut back on other things.
Where did you find your wedding dress? I bought my dress in The Bridal Showroom in JLT. It was the first place I looked. I went to try on some styles and get an idea of what I liked and ended up buying my dress that day. I was quite anxious when I went there because I was alone but the girls there really put me at ease. They were so patient and encouraging and obviously love what they do.
Beautiful bridesmaids… My sister Kelley bought her bridesmaids dress from Dessy in Ireland.
Memorable moments… Elaine- My Dads face the first time he saw me in my dress. Blaises face when he saw me walking down the aisle. Blaise- When I saw Elaine walking down the aisle and when she was dancing with her Dad later on in the night.
The Details + Décor… After trawling through Pinterest I decided the theme I liked most was ‘Garden Pretty”. I told Joelle the colours I like and was happy to let her go for it.
Entertainment – how did you entertain your guests? DJ Enda Grimes (The Dubai DJ) ensured a full dance floor all night.
Advice for other couples… Let Joelle take care of everything!! If you have friends and family willing to help – let them! Don’t try and take on everything yourself.
