Daniel and Estrella got married in June in Spain and luckily for you lot my new friends at Leafhopper Weddings sent me this wedding to share. Estrella’s natural makeup, slightly waved brunet hair, teamed with classic red nails and red lipstick is my definition of perfection. It could also be that her Isabel Marant wedding dress made me slightly weak at the knees.
Our wedding day…
We had just 80 guests, so we tried to involve them into the wedding. I don’t like it when I arrive to a wedding and I don’t know anything about the process of that wedding. We shared with them in advance all the wedding’s details: When we decided to get married, when we found the venue, our feelings, how the ceremony was going to be, the menu… etc. So on the day of the wedding day, all the guests were so involved that was also their day and their party, and they felt very grateful for that.
We were very lucky because our three main vendors (photographers, catering and dj’s) went above and beyond our expectations. Leafhopper Weddings did such a great job, they were respectful with the intimacy of special moments but at the same time they captured great shots. I didn’t even see them working, and then a few weeks later they sent us hundreds of photos! La Mujer Barbuda were very fun, very good music and making everybody dance all night. And the catering was really good, they understood what we wanted and, even though they had never catered a wedding dinner as we wanted (buffet, food trucks, no sitting assigned) they just nailed it!
Advice for other couples…
Have fun, do what you really want and find a wonderful photographer who photograph the whole day because with all the stress you won’t remember half of it!
About Leafhopper…
Hi, we are Leafhopper Weddings or David and Blanca, a photo duo and also a real couple working for more than 6 years on documentary and lifestyle photography. We are actually sharing our time between Europe (mainly Spain) and Asia (mainly Malaysia), because traveling and taking photos are the thing we like the most.
Besides working for different fashion brands and publications, we enjoy being part of lovely events like the day of your wedding. Not being very invasive we like covering details, lovely moments and the happiness around such an important day.
We have been covering weddings in Spain and Asia, and we are super open to be invited to take photos anywhere you need us.
As we are analog lovers and we work with medium format and film cameras in our personal projects, we have covered events in film and recorded Super 8 videos.
What they say about the bride & groom…
We met Estrella in Madrid about a year before of their wedding. She contacted us cause she knew our work from Casilda se Casa (Wedding Spanish Vogue Blog) and other magazines. When we first met at Museo de Arte Reina Sofia, we knew we were gonna love that wedding. We already knew magical Sevilla and knew also it might be a happy wedding, and so it was. The day was perfect, Sevilla got so hot in summertime but it was perfect. WE LOVED THEM, their families and the music was amazing: Smashing Pumpkins, Spanish indie music, Bjork, real indie music. We did not only work there, we had a great moment.
