If you’ve heard of Pod U Like then you’ll know that my following bride-to-be is one that is going to be rather creative. Dani, who is one of the lovely ladies behind Pod U Like, a photo-booth company in Dubai recently got engaged and I was lucky enough to hear her story first. I love a good proposal… and oh boy, this is a very good story. This guy got creative with a USB stick!

How did your future groom propose?
My surprise proposal came super early whilst tucked up in bed a couple of mornings before Christmas. He said I could open one gift early from a box that was underneath a miniature real tree in our bedroom. I opened the box to find a USB stick. On the USB was a video which told our story through pictures, all the places we have been together, all the things we have done together, the jokes we share and pictures of our amazing families. It was incredible and very creative for my not so creative other half. I, naturally, was a sobbing mess. Everything about it was perfect and for very first time in my life, someone had actually managed to surprise me. I thought I was unsurpriseable! My parents were over visiting at the time and little did I know that they were in on it too. The ring had been designed and made in London and my mum made the round trip from our family home near Manchester to collect the ring in person. He asked my Dad’s permission when they had landed in Dubai the night before he popped the big question. After the deed was done, our flat mates revealed more surprises, the biggest and most beautiful bouquet of flowers I have ever seen and an amazing champagne breakfast for us to all start an epic week of celebrations and Christmas. (awwhhhh he’s so cute, and so totally in love)

When you do you plan to get married?
We plan to get married in June 2014. (Dani is a lucky girl, she has lots of time to plan)

What sort of wedding are you aiming for?
We are getting married at a luxury campsite in the South of France. It is going to be a 3 day homemade affair, with a sports day, wedding in the forest and pool party BBQ brunch the day after. We are aiming for a laid back, outdoors, colourful, DIY feel. It will be a really ‘young’ wedding, so it will involve lots of games, partying and fun. (Yes people, we will be getting the exclusive from Dani’s wedding..)

How you found a dress yet?
Not yet, but I think I know what I want. I thought it was a 1950’s tea length vintage number, but I really want to wow the crowd and I think everyone is expecting me to wear just that. I am going to throw a curve ball, but it definitely won’t be a big princess number. I just want to be comfortable and be the most glamourous version of me I can be for 1 day.

Will you get married in Dubai?
No, we will have a registry office ceremony with just our immediate family a couple of days after the big party in France. It is a shame that we can’t legally marry in France, but instead we will always refer to this day as “our big day” with the registry office taking care of the paperwork and legal side.

I must say I am a little jealous that Dani is just about to start her journey as a bride-to-be. I miss it, all the planning, ideas and DIY I created for my wedding. If I could do it all again I would. 🙂
