It’s been so long since I posted a DIY blog, and it saddens me because I love them so much. As many of you know I recently launched ‘www.lovelystyling.com’ and more often than not styling weddings allows me to be creative. I make favours, customise old furniture, and spray paint pretty much anything in sight. (I’m a rather messy crafter) My most recent wedding was for one of my favourite couples; Sophia and Mark. They got married at The Address Montgomerie on the 8th November, and their theme was blush pink, mint green with a splash of glittery gold. The candy bar was one of my favourite parts of the wedding. I bought a dressing table from Ikea and customised it by painting the draws, and adding pretty handles. The wedding favours were displayed on top of the table, and looked extra cute stacked up next to large jars of pink candy. {photos coming soon I promise}
What you need to make candy favor jars….
- Small glass jars with lids – you can find these in Lakeland at MOE.
- Candy – I suggest jelly beans or hard candy and nothing that is going to melt quickly.
- Fabric- any colour or textured fabric will do.
- Stickers – Stickers or thank you tags. You can find some great stickers online that say ‘Thank you’ or if you want to add more personal detail try making them yourself. The printer at The Garden Center called ‘Toil & Tinker‘ made these for me. {with the help of my Mona who’s great at graphic design}
- Scissors – you will need to trim the fabric to size, and zig zag scissors always look less ‘messy’. You can find these at most good craft stores.
- String or ribbon- My favorite string to use is rustic twine. It’s not too fancy and adds a nice ‘DIY’ touch. Well, I think so anyway 🙂
There probably isn’t any need to explain the steps, so just look at pictures and you’ll figure it out. 🙂
