How much does your makeup regime change form winter to summer?
The most common change in our makeup ritual to transition from winter to summer would be the shades we use, especially for eyeshadows and lipsticks. It’s not a rule but winter trends tend to go towards the darker, bold shades; while in summer they tend to go towards golds and tropical ones. But there are some changes that in my opinion are even more important to make. So with that in mind here are my tips on what to take out and what to incorporate in your kit for your everyday makeup now that summer is near.
Just like you use less layers of clothing in summer to feel lighter and let your skin breathe and feel fresh, you should also use less layers when doing your makeup in the warmer months. The same “science” applies, you want to let your skin breathe. We usually sweat in summer and having too many layers blocks sweat from leaving your skin causing clogged pores and producing bacteria that can turn into acne breakouts.
So for your daily makeup routine, I would suggest skipping primers, using more cream products rather than powders. I love using cream blush it gives such a natural effect since they are designed to blend perfectly into your skin and seem as if the color is coming out of your skin and not sitting on top of it. Use tinted moisturizers or bb creams instead of heavy full coverage foundations, this will give you a very natural look and since their formulas are lighter, they give your skin a chance to breathe. If you are going out at night or attending an event and want your makeup to last longer, primers and powders are always a good choice. I’m talking specifically about everyday makeup when you are going to be exposed to the sun.
A beautiful Mum with the perfect summer glow…
I always love to have glowing skin. I’m not only talking about using powder highlighters, as I mentioned before any powder products you can substitute with creams will always give you a better result when going for a dewy, fresh look. A highlighter is a great example of this, using cream highlighters give the effect of a natural glow.
Cream eyeshadows and shadow sticks (which also have a creamy formula) are very easy to apply and they look amazing, they too blend flawlessly and appear to be part of the skin.
So don’t be afraid to use moisturizers and creams, it’s all in the application.
