Hello Beauties!
Today I’m very excited to share some styling tips for your wedding. If you’re like me, you might be prone to a touch of retro… or the vintage trend that nearly every bride I know has a weak spot for. I personally love a bit of old school decor. It’s so easily done, when you know how. So lovelies, here are my tips on how to make your wedding more retro… {Fabulous photos were styled just for this blog… and captured by Liz @ JVR Photography}
Colour
Mint green, red, and navy blue are probably the easiest to work with. Mint green goes well with blush pink, gold and red, so for most brides adding a touch should be easy peasy.
Patterns
Using prints such as polka dots and stripes instantly add that retro feeling. Teamed with bold colours, a good wide stripe can look really striking to the eye. If you’re going all out to achieve this look opt for table linen with a strip or polka dot, and if you’re not confident making such a bold statement you can add a touch to your stationery or candy bar.
Accessories
If your groom is happy to jump on the retro boat then I suggest a classic bow tie, something cute, fun and eye catching. My favourite place to buy bow ties is www.MrsBowtie.com. They have an amazing selection of bow ties and delivery doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. For the fun bride add a cool wide hair band and tie at the front. If you’re wearing a veil you could just swap it over for during your photo shoot. Check out Nifty Little Things on Facebook. My new friend Lizzy rocks this look and is more obsessed with the retro look than I am. 🙂 If you’re a crafty beaver like myself then get involved.
Music
My husband and I recently started collecting records. I love the convenience of downloading music within minutes, but there is something so cool about holding a record in your hand, and seeing it spin round on a record player. My lovely couple Sophia & Mark are not having a retro wedding but they are big music fans, and because of that we are incorporating records into their wedding. It’s going to be awesome… so keep your eyes peeled on Instagram for pictures on the 8th November. You can also rent a Jukebox that is seriously retro and seriously cool. Check out my previous blog for more details.
Candy
If you’re planning on having a candy bar at your wedding then incorporate colourful popcorn and candy floss to the table. Oh so retro and oh so cool! It’s also pretty bulky so you don’t need to over do it. My friend Sunny at Sunny’s POP is the only person I know that creates such fabulously yummy popcorn. Again it’s really budget friendly and you can mix and match your flavours and colours. Oh and if you’re not into the candy bar thing then you could make mini pots of popcorn for every wedding guest. Super easy to make and again it won’t break the bank.
Tomorrow I’ll be posting an inspiration styled shoot that was a collaboration with some of my favorite vendors. We teamed up with Johnny Rockets in Dubai, which I must say is the coolest retro burger joint in town and captured some very cool images to share with you all.
For now my lovelies I have to dash… massive thanks to the following people;
