Inspiration: 5 Ways to Celebrate with Your Bridesmaids

Let’s hear it for our beautiful bridesmaids, the unsung heroes who keep us bridezillas happy – and sane  – through the planning process and are there to hold our hands and keep our make-up tear-free on the day. I think a lot of us brides would agree that there is nothing more special than the morning of your wedding with your girls with all the butterflies and giggles as you get ready.
Weddings offer a great opportunity to spend loads of time with your girl friends and with this in mind I wanted to share a few ideas for fun things to do with your lovely ladies to show them just how much you love and appreciate them.
Before the Big Day: Slumber Party
How about a good old-fashioned sleepover complete with pyjamas, popcorn and pancakes in the morning? This is something that can scheduled in the lead up to your wedding so you can relax and reconnect with your girls old-school style. I just wouldn’t recommend doing it the night before your wedding because just remember this process can be kind of tiring and you might appreciate some time to yourself to relax and get your head right the night before.
Before the Big Day: Learn Something New!
I think we can all agree that it is super fun to learn something new with the people you love. Arranging a class with your girlfriends not only gives you the chance to bond over something different but also shows you care by creating an experience for them that you think they will love. Depending on the interests of your group of friends/sisters this could be anything from flower-arranging to cooking to a make-up class or DIY-crafting.
On the Wedding Day: A Morning Yoga Class
I was so touched when my friend Tara asked me to teach a yoga class to her and her bridesmaids on the morning of her wedding in May of this year. I loved teaching it – we found a quiet spot outside at the hotel and did a 45-minute flow sequence followed by a short meditation. The girls said it was a great way to start the day by being active and puts you in a lovely and peaceful state of the mind before all the festivities begin.
Week of the Wedding: A Mid-Week Mani-Pedi
The week leading up to any wedding is super hectic with friends and family in town and making sure all the last minute details come together. This can get pretty stressful and one way to break this up is to schedule in some fun girly time with girl time over mani-pedis for an hour. For my sister’s wedding we scheduled nail appointments a couple of days before the big day for all the girls in our bridesmaid party and our mums, aunties and cousins and we took over the whole salon. It was so much fun, gives you an opportunity to slow down and spend time with those closest to you AND it gets a job done.
An After the Wedding Thank You Picnic
One of the best parts of getting married (okay you can probably tell I’m a bit of a girlie girl by now!) is getting to talk about it and relive it over and over again with your girls. Let’s be honest your husband is going to stop listening eventually! Plus these are the girls who have gone above and beyond to help you create the perfect day so it’s nice to say thank you with a gesture. For this I would recommend an experience such as a all-afternoon picnic with gourmet goodies and fancy tea (for example from Fortnum and Mason – I love this place!). This says thank you and also gives you a chance to talk about every little detail as you enjoy the outdoor weather. Joelle is full of amazing styling tips for picnics if you need them 🙂
Hope that gave you a few ideas ladies, we’ll be back to talk all things lovely with you soon.
With much love from your bride-to-be,
Amy
