On the 21st February Jill and Nick said ‘I do’ at Jebel Ali Church, just after 1pm on a sunny Friday afternoon. After the ceremony the bride and groom shuffled their guests onto a big red bus, to make the 15 minute drive to Arabian Ranches Golf Club. As guests arrived they were welcomed with cocktails, and afternoon tea. (How very English indeed!)
I must admit that I love this wedding, just a little bit more than the others I have featured on MLW. You may be wondering why? Well that’s because Jill discovered most of her vendors through MLW, and even found her wedding venue too. I can’t begin to tell you how happy this makes me. It’s also one of my favorites, because I styled her wedding.
When I first met Jill, she had a Pinterest page full of different ideas that she equally loved. It was my job to take her ideas and her visions, and make it come to life. I started by putting together three mood boards, and out of the three we choose the bright and colourful chevron theme. I was over the moon. Jill was a bubbly and fun bride with a bold personality, so I just knew this would be perfect for her.
The brides dress…
Jill looked stunning in a long sleeved tea length dress from the House of Mooshki, teamed with a pair of pink and gold heels. The 1950s style dress was part of the inspiration for the wedding theme.
The bridesmaids bouquets…
The flowers were from my favorite Dubai florist… Vintage Bloom. The bridesmaids bouquets were green, wild, with touches of yellow and pink. They complemented the grey dresses… and together they looked like perfection.
The brides bouquet…
Jill’s bouquet was a gift from her Mum. Made form all brooches, it’s something she could keep forever. It’s rather stunning isn’t it…
The table decor….
The chevron table runners were custom made, and teamed with white table linen provided by the venue. White chiavari chairs added a lovely touch, along with a navy blue box of flowers in the center of each table. Sometimes less is more… you don’t need hundreds of flowers to make a table pretty. Just focus on the little details…
The venue décor…
Arabian Ranches Golf Club is one of my favorite venues because it’s private, simple and also works as a blank canvas. (They also have a low minimum spend which makes it is a massive bonus.) The staff are lovely, and were so helpful throughout the day.. which can make a big difference when you’re working solo 🙂 I started by covering the large glass windows around the venue with fabric curtains. This worked well as it added a touch if navy blue, and also made it more private too. I made tassels for the cocktail reception area, and used bright pink table overlays to add a pop of colour.
The wedding cake… and cupcakes!
The wedding cake was designed and baked by the girls at Gourmelicious, and it looked and tasted amazing. I created a fun cake table beside the candy bar, which was bright, colourful and rather eye catching. The chevron table overlay looks gorgeous against the bright pink floral detail on the cupcakes, and the blue chevron stripes. #Ilovechevronprints
The band that rocked their wedding…
UK based wedding band ‘The Dawn Patrol’ flew in to play at Jill & Nick’s wedding. They teamed up with two if the guys from The Maple Jacks, and pleased the crowd with 3 awesome sets throughout the evening. It’s very entertaining seeing 85 happy faces busting out dance moves on the dance floor… which is what a wedding is all about… fun, fun and lots more fun.
Funny glasses and cool red lips…
Jill didn’t fancy a full blown photo booth, but we did invest in some fun props for the guests to play with over the day. Funny glasses and lips on stick never fail to amuse people… and as you can see, the bride and groom also found time to get involved.
My favorite photo has to be this one of Jill… she’s laughing so hard at Nick’s speech that she plonks her head down on the table. Luckily Liz at JVR was on her game and captured this funny moment.
