Morning lovelies, today I’m blogging this wedding photographed by Jacqui Nightscales. I can’t think of a better way to start the week 🙂
Mags and Mark got married on the 11th April 2015 at The Waldorf Astoria, Palm Jumeriah. Joined by 90 of their closest friends and family, they planned the wedding with the help of Liesel at Aghareed in Dubai.
The Dress + Accessories…
I had my dress handmade by Suzanna Rachel Bridal Couture, she lives on the palm, she and I spent weeks planning how I wanted my dress to look. I knew in my mind what I wanted but I never ever expected it to look the way it did. I wore Manolo Blahnik heels, a tennis diamond bracelet bought by mark as a wedding gift to me and a diamond cross.
Beautiful bridesmaids…
My sister Leona, my niece and my sister in law Alpa. They all looked stunning in long lavender dresses.
Groom’s threads…
Mark and his groomsmen wore tailored grey/silver suits handmade by regent and brummel, their shirts had lilac stitching to go with the bridesmaid dresses, they had lilac handkerchiefs too.
The Readings + Music…
My niece did the only reading “once in a lifetime” its all about finding your soulmate, she cried when she read it which in turn made me and my sister cry, she had to take over as my niece could not finish the reading.
The Planning process…
It went on for months, down to the finest detail. I spent weeks looking though magazines and pictures on line to make sure the day went the way I had always hoped and dreamed. Being a very organized and meticulous person there was no way anything was going to go wrong. I don’t think I left anything out.
The Details + Décor…
As I say above I spent weeks researching and planning down to the finest detail. I knew I wanted to offer little bits and pieces for everyone to talk about and remember i.e clean heels, fans, parasols and slippers and at the end of the night everyone was talking about it and the little gestures I had put on.
Budget…
We had a figure in mind but exceeded that before the day even began… it’s amazing how it all adds up!
The Flowers…
The flowers were amazing but one thing which was very disappointing was my bouquet was taken away from me when I was doing the photo’s and I never got to see it again or throw it.
The Cake…
The cake was designed and made by Cakes & Bakes in International City, I knew I wanted three tiers with different colors and tastes. I stupidly made the mistake of offering desert and not the wedding cake so it barely got eaten. I spent the next few weeks eating wedding cake………not a bad way to end the night.
The Honeymoon…
We spent a weekend in the Burj Al Arab which was amazing and so luxurious, if you are ever going to say there it has to be for your honeymoon.
Memorable moments…
Seeing Mark and his brother Paul with Henry-John at the front of the aisle when I was walking down made my heart melt and my lips quiver, my niece doing the reading was very emotional and the bagpipist, being Scottish and walking down the aisle to the flower of Scotland made it for me.
Advice for other couples…
Think of your budget the double it:) don’t drink too much champagne at the getting ready stage, take it all in and take a step back with your hubby as much as you can and watch everyone enjoying themselves! My biggest mistake was not remembering it all as I was so nervous.
