It’s amazing how many times my clients get scared when they see me pick up the eyelash curler.
I understand, it’s probably because you had a bad experience with one, but believe me, when you use a good quality one and master the technique, you will never want to not use it again.
Many eyelash curler’s cushion is made out of plastic, this is not ideal because they tend to break your lashes. Instead look for one that’s made of rubber. You will immediately notice the difference. Not only does it feel more secure but you don’t have to close the curler too hard to get incredible results.
My favourite is MAC cosmetics’ eyelash curler. It comes with an extra rubber cushion which you need to change when your first one starts feeling too soft or breaks in the middle. Shu Uemura has a very good one. Tarte has a good one as well and it’s girly and cute too. You can find both of them at Sephora.
Now let’s talk technique. The key is to start the closest you can get to the lash line, press the curler, leave it for a few seconds, open and move further out the middle of the lashes and repeat. Finally, open the curler again and, if your lashes are not extra long, curl the tip in the same manner. If they are extra long I don’t recommend this since they will the curl inwards and look shorter.
Voila! Your eyes now look wide awake and after applying mascara, u la la. You could literally just wear a dab of concealer, a little bit of blush and run out the door.
Give it a second chance, you won’t regret it.
