So guys I have a bit of a confession. When I’m in the car singing away to the radio, I often envisage myself on the dance floor in my white dress dancing away with my husband with all our friends and family. Okay, you caught me sometimes I imagine that One Direction are performing and singing to me on my wedding day. Is that weird? Well it’s out now.
For our first dance, I love the idea of all our friends and family coming up to join us after a minute or so – everyone’s different but I’m not very good with all eyes being on me and I would feel super awkward with everyone watching us. I also really want a “fun” first dance song.
So I was shuffling through my playlists this morning, I thought I would share the songs that have caught my eye (or ear rather) as the first song I want to dance to my husband with. Full disclosure I am very Top 40 in my music taste but hey if you want to get people dancing 🙂
“Shut Up and Dance” by Walk The Moon
This is an obvious one, but I mean the clue’s in the name right?
“Cheerleader” by OMI
This one is perfect especially if you are having a gorgeous outdoor Dubai wedding on the beach, Jamaica vibes anyone?
“Sugar” by Maroon 5
I mean have you seen the video – it’s Adam Levine showing up to sing to people at their wedding. What more could you want?!
“Love Me Like You Do” by Ellie Goulding
If you can get past the fact that the song is from the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack it’s actually very lovely. And we like lovely. Well, we love lovely.
“Hold My Hand” by Jess Glynne
This is kinda cheesey but when I was going through a hard time earlier this year I used to listen to this song and always remember that no matter how rubbish things got I still got to hold my husband’s hand at the end of the day and that made me happy 🙂
“Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran
Here’s where it gets a little soppy. But come on. With lyrics like “Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars..” who can’t help falling in love with this song. It always make me think of dancing under fairy lights.
“Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars
Want everyone on the dance floor? This Motown beat has crowd pleaser written all over it. If you’re feeling crazy and want to do a husband and wife routine then this song is PERFECT (I’ve seen it done).
“I Can’t Feel My Face” by The Weeknd
No matter how many times I listen to this song I can’t seem to stop bopping away to it. Plus I think my hubby loves when I sing it to him. I think. Maybe he’s laughing at me…who knows.
“Hello” by Adele
Just kidding, unless you want your whole wedding party in tears by the end of the song!
Did you get married in 2015? What was your first dance song? We’re working on other feature called the Ultimate Wedding Playlist which we can’t wait to share with you so stay tuned party people x
Have a great day you lovely people, back soon.
