Tamara Hamdan & Ziad Chami got married on the 7th March at one of Dubai’s most lovely outdoor venues… The Desert Palm hotel. The perfect setting for a rustic chic wedding. With 150 of their closest friends and family, this gorgeous pair celebrated in style, and added personal touches whenever they could. If you read on, you will come to know that the groom is bit of Star Wars fan 🙂
Planned by Yasmine at Dot the I’s Events, it’s quite obvious that every little detail has been thought of. I personally LOVE the wood barrel cocktail tables, and the globe string lighting across the dining tables. Scroll down for some very pretty pictures…
My lovely wedding dress…
My dress was designed by the fabulous Zuhair Murad, and headpiece by Belles by Raquel.
Finding my wedding dress…
I knew exactly what I was looking for in terms of lace and the shape, so trying on dresses was the best experience. You are treated like a princess and sometimes things you thought will never look good on you,
look great. Before I found my wedding dress, I played dress up in various stores in Beirut and Dubai.
The groom’s threads…
The groom wore a customized navy blue tuxedo by Palmar, shoes from Tods, and cuff links customized by the bride illustrating the different countries they’ve traveled together. Later in the evening the groom wore toms illustrated with R2D2 (a character from Star Wars) by Yara Hindawi
Music…
The music was mainly focusing on the golden oldies in English and Arabic, a splash hip hop and the usual commercial dance songs. The groom surprised the crowd by performing along with his best man and friend. #talentedgroom
The lovely blooms…
Inspired by spring color palettes, we decided to go with a lot of hydrangeas, wax flowers, tulips and roses.
The details and decor… The theme of the wedding was rustic chic.
The venue was a beautiful garden located behind a museum of antique polo equipment collected by the owner of the resort. The horses stables were located behind the museum. The food was placed in a terrace overlooking the polo field.

The welcome drink was hosted in a charming veranda with a beautiful fountain. A lot of burlap and lace were used, which added a romantic feel. The chairs and tables were dark wooden brown, and a touch of crystals candelabras were added to enhance the elegant feel
The highlight for wedding planner Yasmine were three things; the barrels used as cocktail tables during welcome drink, the pathway to the garden was all made of paper bags with candles, and the main lighting of the dinner area was a series of globe lights hanging from side to side giving it a cozy and rustic feel.
The fact we chose to do the wedding in Dubai and not our home country, we wanted to add a Lebanese touch to it. At the Zaffah some oriental props were used such as customized tambourine with Arabic calligraphy for girls and red tarboosh (traditional hat) for guys. At the buffet there was a section dedicated to Lebanese sweets from our childhood. The after party food was a live station offering different favors of man’ouche.
The honeymoon…
We went on a mini moon to the Waldorf in Ras Al Khaimah and the main honeymoon is in June when the weather is better in Europe. We will be going to Italy.
Memorable moments…
Every second of it was memorable. We couldn’t have asked for a better venue, ambiance, decor and team. And most of all loving family and friends to celebrate with.
Advice for other couples…
We won’t lie to you and tell you there is no stress, there is and lots of it. All we can say is enjoy the stress cause it’s worth every second of it. Don’t argue over seating, people who are attending your wedding love you and won’t care much. If anything goes wrong and not according to the flow no one will notice other than you.

- Eat during the day, don’t starve yourself.
- Have a good night sleep the night before.
- Remember to surprise your spouse on the day before you see each other, for example Ziad sent me his vows to me during our civil wedding handwritten in a frame with red roses.
- Interact with most of the people as they want to have fun with you.
- Use a go pro to capture dance floor moments.
- Take lots of selfies.

A huge thank you goes to the sister of the groom Carla, brother of the bride Jad, best man (Aboudi), bridesmaids (Nathalie, Karine, Dima, Lara) for their touching and funny speeches. Massive Thanks to sister of the bride for being there for me every step of the way and especially the day and night of the wedding. Last but not least thanks to our parents: Nakhle, Jihad and Wissam.
