Rustic crates for a vintage style wedding?

Hello my lovelies,
So today is a big day, it’s the 4th December which means I have exactly 1 month until my wedding day. But before I go into a full on update I’m going to talk about my crates. I told you last week that I was in the process of painting 17 wood crates. I can finally say, I’ve finished. It took me hours, but they look amazing and I couldn’t be happier with them. Unfortunately I can’t share my carpenters name with you as he works for my Uncle and this was a one off job. 🙁 sorry. BUT I do suggest you have a browse on Dubizzle for a carpenter, I’m sure there are plenty of them around.
So here’s what I did… I painted each one in turn on my balcony, and also painted my floor (well a little bit, and obviously not on purpose) I’ve mentioned before that I’m a messy painter. And I did learn from my previous mistake and didn’t bother getting my nails done, actually I’m not going to bother until all my DIY is finished. Oh, and in case you want the same colour, the wood stain is ‘Aged Oak’, and I got it from Ace Hardware. I used a medium sized paint brush, but you could probably use a big one. Just remember to get into the corners. Also, don’t forget to pick up some white spirit, it doesn’t come off with water. But does come off with nail vanish remover. lol. Check this out…

If you’re wondering what I or you can do with crates like these, here are a few ideas…
1. Display flowers in them, maybe pot plants, or jars of flowers in rustic style arrangements…

2. Use them in a display for your wedding cake or dessert buffet…

3. Use smaller crates as trays for food, drinks or favors…

4. Put one small crate in the center of each table and use it as part of your centerpiece…
