Today I finally get to share Sophia & Mark’s wedding photos with you. {I think I just squealed a little} So far I’ve posted the decor details and the video, and today is the day I get to post the intimate photos that capture their magical wedding day.
Sophia and Mark got married on Saturday 8th November at one of my favorite venues; The Address Montgomerie Dubai. Over the space of a year I helped Sophia and Mark plan their wedding. I advised on vendors, and I without realising it we became good friends too. I remember crying as I watched Sophia walk down the path towards her wedding, it was very emotional moment because all of that hard work has paid off and you get to see it all come together. For some reason {maybe I’m a soppy romantic at heart} I get quite attached to my brides, and at some point they stop being a client and become a friend. It’s at that point that their wedding means as much to me as my own did. So getting every detail right is a must.
Planning the wedding…
Some months I found myself very stressed and frustrated, mainly because of vendors not understanding my needs or giving me ridiculous quotes. I would say I actually enjoyed the last month the most as I did as much as possible early on in the process so I could enjoy the build up to the wedding. Mark was very very involved and really took a lot of pressure off me, he actually made the invitations. Although I don’t think I could have done it without YOU (My Lovely Wedding/ Lovely Styling), you were my fairy godmother throughout the process and I honestly cant sing your praises enough. Every single bride needs you, you truly were amazing.
Budget….
We didn’t really set aside an exact figure but I can definitely say we ended up exceeding our initial idea of how much it would cost.
The Dress + Accessories…
My wedding dress was from Essence of Australia, and I found my veil at Beljour Bridal in Dubai.
Finding the dress…
I found my dress in the UK, Forever Bridal, a wedding boutique in Barnet, North London. After disastrous appointments here, I really didn’t find anything I liked and so took a visit back home with my mum. It was my last appointment on the last day of my appointments where I found my dress. I nearly gave up hope but my dress was actually the first dress i picked off the rail and so I chose to try it on last as I had a feeling I would love it. As soon as I came out of the dressing room in the dress and took one look at my mum, we were both in tears and she said to me straight away, this is the one.
Groom’s attire…
Mark got his, and hos groomsmen and my dads suits tailor made at Regent & Brummell.
Beautiful bridesmaids…
I found the bridesmaid dresses at Mango in Dubai.
The Readings & Music…
My nan, Heather gave her own private reading and i walked down the aisle to a live violin playing Pachelbels Canon, the same song my mum walked down the aisle to, so it was very close to my heart.
The Flowers…
Joelle organised the flowers from Vintage Bloom. They did an amazing job on the day and the arch was really amazing.
The Cake…
Gourmelicious made the cake for us and it was so yummy. It was also so beautiful too.
The Details & Décor…
My Lovely Wedding 🙂 Joelle managed all of the decor and the styling for our wedding.
The Honeymoon…
We took off to the Maldives 3 days after the wedding after all of the visited family had flown home. We split the honeymoon, staying in 2 different resorts. A beach villa at Kurumba Island then took a seaplane to Lily Beach Island where we had a water villa. It was pure bliss and exactly what we needed after a hectic few months.
Memorable moments…
When I think back on the day I remember going into my room to put my dress on with my mum, I was so nervous and seemed like a moment I had been waiting for in so long, she could feel my nerves and was trying to calm me down because also I was panicking I was late lol. Also the first dance with Mark and the dance with my dad was extremely emotional, in that moment you feel like no one else is around you and I got so lost in the moment, it really is so special.
At one point I needed a long awaited toilet break so went with marks cousin Maya, walking away from the lawn where the party was in full swing she turned and said to me, just take a second, look at all this, everyone is here for you and mark, its so special, take it all in, I will never forget that. Amongst the chaos of the day you forget how much effort and planning has gone into this one day so you really should literally take a step back and just watch for a moment.
Advice for other couples…
1.Enjoy the planning as much as possible; you only get to do it once!
2.Don’t forget about your husband/wife on the day, you will feel like there are so many people to spend time with but don’t forget the most important person on the day.
3.Take in every second; it really does go so quickly!!!
Credit for suppliers & friends…
Mark and I want to thank YOU firstly!! We really couldn’t have asked for a better person to execute our vision as well as you did. From the moment we woke up on the day you constantly surprised us with little extra touches that really meant a lot. We felt throughout the whole planning process you just wanted to the absolute best for us, and went above and beyond to make sure every single detail was perfect. To top it off we feel we gained a friend! That is priceless!
I would love to thank Diana Mauer for making my bridesmaids and I feel so beautiful on the day doing our hair & makeup, you did such a great job.
Also our fabulous DJ – David Craig for keeping everyone on the dance floor all night, and also the extremely talented Adam Shero for his amazing set.
Helen Schrader our celebrant that conducted the ceremony (she also married my sister in Dubai 3 years ago) it was so beautiful and personal.
We cant forget Ingrid, and all the staff at The Address Montgomerie, every single aspect of the day went smooth and without a hitch and we cant thank you enough for all your hard work!!
If I could do it all again I would, in a heartbeat!! It was the best day of our lives. I couldn’t have married anyone more perfect than Mark; I found my soul mate!
