Hello Lovelies,
Today my fellow wedding lovely Mennat at Cloud 9 is sharing one of her weddings she styled and planned. I have to say that the details, the bride and the images are all blooming gorgeous. There is nothing I don’t love about this wedding…
Haya and Rayan approached me during Ramadan of 2015, the time where my brain gets ready to go on vacation mode and I begin to focus on taking in all kinds of inspiration, and studying ideas for the next wedding season. Having set a date of December 11, this couple was determined to get the ball rolling quickly. Haya was a unique bride in every way, very opinionated and with a strong voice, she showed me what she liked and I understood her style quite quickly. I was instantly re-inspired by her ideas!
Not only was Haya interested in Marsala, the pantone colour of 2015, and deeper hues but she knew she wanted a secret garden wedding outdoors. I immediately thought of creating a Medieval Garden wedding. They had already booked their venue, the Falcon Lawn at Fairmont Bab Al Bahar in Abu Dhabi. The research began and I suddenly found myself incorporating beautiful textures, moss, more greens, and wonderful vintage accessories! I used log bases, used books bound together with burlap string, gold and scratched frames, goblets and vintage bottles among other things.
Aside from having a gorgeous palette to work with, they offered me a new challenge. This was to create a smooth flow between their guests who were of different Arabic nationalities – Rayan, a Welsh-Emirati and Haya, who was Palestinian. Though the two families had a lot of common traits, the wedding habits and some rituals between the two cultures are somewhat different. To balance this, we included Palestinian procession, Emirati food and sweets, and hand-picked songs with the DJ, to compliment both nationalities. Everyone was on the dance floor 🙂
Haya really wanted to show her Mom some appreciation for her moral support, so she wore her mother’s very own wedding crown/headpiece! We prettied it up to suit the theme, using greens and purple florals. Her two sisters also wore headpieces following a similar style. The bride wore a Pronovias dress and her make up was done by Lina from Lina’s Makeup (and Hair by Rafi of Rafi Fazaa (@rafifazaa). Her nails were prettied up by the amazing TNS (The Nail Spa) in Abu Dhabi.
Rayan wore a customized suit by Ascots and Chapels. He has a love for horses, and used to ride for the UAE National team. It was only right that their engagement shoot take place at the stables in the Al Forsan Club in Abu Dhabi. Shot by the very talented Luma, at Luma Photography, the images were used at the wedding.
To tell this couple’s tale, and work with our theme of (Happily) {Ever After}, I suggested creating a giant story book and use it as their guest book! We customized a short story and printed it on a large book made of wood and then guests could sign from the second blank page.
For the giveaways, I got in touch with Candle Connection in Egypt, who make bespoke candles. I felt these suited the couple’s style and would please their family and friends because of the Arabic calligraphy. So I had these ordered in a gorgeous deep purple to suit the theme and gold brass piece with their names on it.
The table covers were from Party Social, in Dubai. We used their mini petal champagne colour overlays which turned out beautiful and really complimented the theme. One of my favourite elements of the wedding was this cosy photobooth corner I created under a bunch of trees. I draped lines of fairy lights randomly through the trees and used it as the backdrop. We placed our vintage sofa at the center and voila! I asked the Gourmelicious girls to create some delicious cupcakes for the event, which worked out great next to our homemade fudge and Sunny’s Popcorn on the dessert bar!
To create the finishing magical touch, I covered the entire garden with fairy lights, which really added that cosy factor.
