Rustic weddings aren’t for everyone, especially in Dubai. Wedding trends in Dubai are also a little more polished… mainly because of the top notch venues, scattered around 5 star hotels. It would be rather hard to pull of a ‘rustic garden wedding’ at a squeaky clean venue. You get the idea.
If you are swaying more towards this beautiful theme, then I admire you. It’s personally one of my favorite wedding themes, because even though I’m thoroughly into my details, I prefer everything to be a little rough around the edges. Anything ‘too’ put together is just boring, it’s less interesting. For me, it’s the imperfections that make something beautiful.
So, before I ramble on too much, here are my rustic wedding must-haves…
Bakers twine – Using twine instead of ribbon instantly gives you a more rustic feel. You can get it in lots colours and also a natural brown too.
Burlap fabric – Cheap and cheerful burlap fabric. This fabric makes awesome table runners and won’t damage your budget either!
Naked cakes – Yes, I said naked… no icing, no fancy design work, just good old fashioned cake. Decorated with flowers, berries and a little bit of butter cream…. this cake is one of my absolute favorites!
Greens – Think garden plants, ivy and other green leaves. The use of greens in a centerpiece can not only add some bulk to your flower arrangement but they also look lovely too… and rustic of course. Oh and moss… green moss is perfect for this theme, and rather beautiful too.
Recycled wood pallets – I must admit, I totally love wood pallets. I’m actually using some this weekend for an outdoor wedding… think signage, notice boards, table plans… you get the idea!
Wild flowers – If you’re going for a rustic feel, don’t overdo your floral arrangements. Keep them fresh, wild and not too put together. Jam jars, tin cans, bottles and less extravagant vase type items will work just fine 🙂
Ladders – This is my new obsession. Who knew a ladder could be so cool, and diverse? Oh and if you have a garden shed (probably not but you might know someone who does) look for a wheelbarrow… ice bucket wheelbarrow= awesome!
