It’s that time again when I hand MLW over to one of my guest bloggers, and today Lovely Leena is back with a subject every bride will love!
Draped to the tune of extreme elegance, swishing metallic satin silks in hundreds of subtle shades from pristine white to warm ivory………A dress constructed to personify the woman within with maximum play up of her beauty and charm. Perhaps the most important fashion statement she will ever make. The wedding dress of course, that must rival all those that came before it! Leaving the most lasting impression ever desired.
The mystique, the drama, the tears of pain and pleasure that surround it are a tradition in itself. As with all fashion the wedding gown has evolved into a most versatile entity, in the variation in length, colour, textures, cuts and embellishment. Although the lure of the classic white or ivory dress in a long silhouette remains a hot favorite. Tradition never dates or goes out of fashion. And fashion trends have a way of coming back with slight reinvention.
Brides have been embracing the Hollwood glamour of the 1950’s and 60’s in early 2014, with the revival of classic cuts, nipped in waists with billowing floaty trails starry speckled Princess like ballgowns. Some also preferring the shorter more flirty wedding dress in satin damask with embossing or beading with sweetheart necklines and straighter, tighter guidelines. With the Kanye and Kim wedding the romance with lace has begun all over again And 2015 looks set for lace continuing to be the coveted fabric choice for brides, but with a whole lot more daring emphasis on metallic gold and silver lace with stretch satin providing the precision draping and wistful trails for lots of dazzle. Cut organza and hand beading is replacing the penchant for swaroski crystals. Illusion necklines, plunging backs with vintage lace insets are predicted to be the rage.
As a keen fashion writer, I’m placing my bets on shimmering silver ivory lace in rose cut applique with a mermaid trail, an draped cross over back with a waterfall neckline…….complex, exquisite and a tad indecisive just like the women who wear it with such grace!
Its going to be raining wedding dresses with metallic gloss!
