Calling all hipster brides…. Tom & Serg can now cater for your wedding. That’s right folks, the very trendy and uber cool warehouse cafe can accommodate you and guests on your wedding day. You have no idea how excited I got when I found this out. I literally squealed with joy! {I’m not joking} The two storey cafe located just round the corner from Ace Hardware in Al Quoz has been making headlines with it’s delicious menu, funky looking waiters and amazing warehouse space.
I made it my mission to meet with Tom & Serg to find out what they can offer you as a “bride-to-be.” I sat down with Events Manger to discuss the details and I left with an overwhelming feeling of excitement. Why? Because every time I go to Tom & Serg I leave thinking ‘Hmmm this would make an amazing space for a wedding’. It’s almost like they read my mind.
The high ceilings make the space feel so much bigger than it is. The concrete floors have helped keep the place grounded, and close to it’s roots as a former warehouse. The open kitchen and bar give it that trendy and casual atmosphere and it’s tall glass windows flood the space with natural light and the chairs and tables are pretty enough for a wedding, at least for a hipster bride anyway.
Downstairs can hold up to 150 people standing, or 90 seated. Combined with upstairs, the entire cafe can take 400 people standing, or 200 seated. I would suggest this venue to a wedding party of 100.
Imagine a welcome cocktail reception as you enter the building, you’re served freshly cooked canapés and are lighted with hanging globe bulbs and surround by candle light. For dinner you climb the stairs where you will be greeted to long tables perfectly styled (by me obviously).
When you break down the costs this really is an awesome venue for a budget friendly wedding.
Things you don’t need to hire!!
Lighting – add a few candles and you’re done. No need for spot lights, flood lights or trussing.
Dance floor – Why pay for a dance floor when you have a perfectly surfaced concrete floor to use.
Chairs- Nearly all brides I know will rent chairs and pay between AED 15 – 28 per chair because lets face it most hotel chairs are pretty ugly.
Table linen- Luckily for us the furniture at Tom & Serg is pretty awesome, it’s chic and contemporary and they have awesome long tables. I’d suggest adding a cool table runner rather than a full table overlay. It would be sad to cover such pretty tables.
The only things you DO NEED!
Flowers & table decor
I would personally suggest adding a few small arrangements to the tables; rustic wood boxes or simple glass bottles filled with flowers and greens. Adding a simple menu, or a napkin to each place setting would be a lovely touch too. Wedding favours are always a must and add that extra touch to each place setting too.
You’d also need the usual seating plan, name cards and signage.
The other plus sides to getting married at Tom & Serg is the large car park just across from the street, which means parking is free.
